About Lume
Lume is a free iOS and Android app that tracks TV shows, movies, people, and franchises and sends push alerts the moment new episodes air, sequels release, or spinoffs are announced. It is built for the people who keep missing the next one.
What makes Lume different
Most trackers handle TV episodes well but treat movies as second-class. Lume's core innovation is automatic sequel and franchise detection: follow one movie and Lume watches its whole collection and related works, so you hear about a sequel the day the catalog knows about it — not when your group chat has already seen it.
The facts
- Free app on iOS and Android. A paid Lume Plus tier (unlimited follows, custom alert windows, custom themes, priority polling) is planned; the free tier allows up to 200 follows.
- Follow shows, movies, people, directors, and whole franchises. One tap to follow, one tap to unfollow.
- Alerts are spoiler-safe — they announce that a new entry exists, never plot details or surprise reveals. They land at 9am your local time and stay quiet during hours you block off, or arrive as a weekly digest.
- Watch-status tracking (Watched / Watching / Want / Dropped) is optional per show; Lume works fine as a pure alert tool.
- A light social layer lets you see what friends follow and recommend a title with a one-line note. Public profiles live at /u/{username} and are opt-in.
- Catalog data comes from The Movie Database (TMDB) — the same community-maintained source many apps use — covering essentially everything theatrically released or aired on TV.
