Account & Data Deletion

The short version
You can delete your Lume account at any time. Deletion is permanent and removes every record we hold about you — follows, watch state, ratings, comments, friendships, recommendations, your push tokens, and the account row itself. There is no recovery once it's done.
Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open Lume on your phone.
- Tap the Settings tab, then Delete account.
- Type
DELETEexactly (uppercase) to confirm. The button stays disabled until the text matches — this is the only safeguard against accidental taps. - Tap Delete my account. The deletion runs server-side and signs you out as soon as it completes. You'll land back on the sign-in screen.
This is the fastest path and is preferred because it proves you control the account.
Delete by email (if you can't open the app)
Email contact@app-lume.com with the subject "Delete my Lume account" from the email address tied to your Lume account (the one you signed in with via Apple or Google). Include your username if you remember it.
We'll verify ownership by sending a confirmation link back to that same email, and complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving your confirmation. In practice we usually process within 1–3 business days.
What gets deleted
- Your account record (Supabase Auth user + profile row).
- Every follow, watched / rated entry, and any per-entity alert overrides you set.
- Every friendship you accepted or are pending, plus friendship-request rows on both sides.
- Every comment you posted and every recommendation you sent or received.
- Your blocks, reports, and any contact-match hashes we're holding for you.
- Your push notification tokens — you stop receiving alerts immediately.
- Your uploaded avatar image, if any.
What might be retained
A small set of records can't be erased on request because we're legally or operationally required to keep them. These are minimal and never include your name, email, or content:
- Anonymized aggregate analytics. If your activity has rolled up into a count (e.g., "1,402 users followed this show this month"), the count stays but is no longer linked to you.
- Comments / replies others received.A comment you posted on someone else's entity page is removed; replies others made to your comment are preserved with your author handle replaced by "deleted user"so their context isn't broken.
- Abuse / moderation logs. If you were the subject of a report or your account was flagged, the report record (with no PII) is retained for safety auditing for up to 2 years.
- Server access logs. Operational logs (request IDs, IP truncated to /24, timestamps) live in our infrastructure provider (Supabase + Vercel) for up to 30 days as part of standard rolling retention. They are not searchable by user.
If you signed in with Apple or Google
Deleting your Lume account does not revoke the Apple/Google Sign-In permission. If you want Apple or Google to forget that they ever connected to Lume, also do this:
- Apple: iPhone Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple → Lume → Stop using Apple ID.
- Google: myaccount.google.com/permissions → Lume → Remove access.
Changed your mind?
Deletion is permanent. If you change your mind beforewe process an email request, reply to our confirmation email and ask us to cancel. Once the deletion job has run there's nothing to restore from — your data is gone, not soft-deleted.
